Real Beauty Tips I Wish I'd Learned Earlier
I've always been a beauty girlie.
I started my career in makeup and skincare, working in salons and spas, and on set. For years I believed looking beautiful meant a full beat face, buying every trending skincare product, and chasing the next miracle serum.
Meanwhile, I was surviving on very little sleep, barely drinking water, and relying on quick fixes just to get through the day.
No matter how much makeup I wore or how expensive the products were, I'd look in the mirror and still feel...sad. No cream in the world could fix what was happening on the inside. I was deeply longing to fulfill something missing inside of me-self love. I wish someone had shared some REAL truths with me years ago, maybe I wouldn’t have endured so much heartache and headaches. However I went through it so you don’t have to so today, I'm sharing my REAL beauty tips with you.
Starting with the first and most important one. REST!
1. Rest is the best beauty treatment.
I used to wear exhaustion like a badge of honor. My eyes looked heavy, my skin was constantly breaking out, and I always looked tired. The moment I started protecting my sleep and giving myself permission to slow down, everything changed. My face softened. My body relaxed. My skin became healthier. Rest became the foundation for every beauty habit I built.
2. Simplicity wins every time.
As I began getting more rest my skin improved, I realized I didn't need a 10-step routine. I had been layering product after production my face, which often led to irritation and congestion.
Today my routine is simple:
URBAN SKIN RX Cleansing bar
Royal Fern Photoactive Serum (day) ISCLinical GeneXC (night)
Dr. Thayer’s Witch Hazel w/Rose
Tatcha Water Cream
UTU Outdoor Skincare
That's it! My skin is healthier, brighter, dark circles gone, and my mornings feel lite and less stressful.
3. Stress always leaves a mark.
No one talks enough about how stress shows up on your face and in your body. My jaw stayed clenched, my shoulders tense, my mind racing, and my skin and body reflected it all.
Learning to pause even for just a few minutes—to breathe deeply and check in with myself changed everything.
Those quiet moments reminded me that challenges are temporary and that I don't have to control everything. The more peace I created within myself, the more it showed on the outside, and more importantly in my nervous system.
4. The way you speak to yourself matters.
For years I criticized every part of me—my skin, my lips, my nose, my hair. Then I realized something: If anyone was going to consistently speak life into me, it had to start with me. I began replacing criticism with kindness. The things we repeatedly tell ourselves become our beliefs. Our brains respond to those repeated thoughts, whether they're uplifting or harmful. So why not choose words that build you instead of break you.
As I became gentler with myself, I noticed something incredible. I actually did start to look better causing me to also feel better, which lead to more positive exepereinces in my life. People started saying I looked more peaceful. More radiant. More beautiful. More fun to be around! That shift and new way of existing in the world lasted far longer than any makeup ever could.
These days, I'm no longer chasing perfection, I'm choosing intentional living:
Healthy habits.
Rest.
Peace.
Grace.
REAL beauty isn't created by another product it's cultivated through the way we care for ourselves—mind, body, and spirit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are some simple beauty tips that actually work?
These are the changes that made the biggest difference for me; they include getting more sleep, implementing a simple 3-step routine, feeling far less stressed, and being so much kinder to myself. These tiny improvements had so much bigger an impact than buying products!
How does stress affect the way I look?
It can show up as dull skin, tight facial muscles, dark circles, or breakouts. When your body stays tense for too long, it’s harder for your face to look rested.
Does a simple routine really make a difference?
Yes. I’ve seen better results from a consistent, gentle routine than from complicated ones. Consistency matters more than perfection.
Why does inner wellness affect outer beauty?
A lot of the time, when you care for yourself through rest, relaxation, and inner peace, that will translate to your outer self. Your skin, your posture, and your facial expression all reveal how you experience yourself.
How do I start without spending a lot?
Start with sleep. Increase the amount of water you drink. Protect your skin from the sun. Practice less critical self-talk, and you'll likely see these free- or nearly-free behaviors create significant, long-term change.
And before you go…
Take a look at yourself in the mirror and say one nice thing about you. Let this be your mantra, let it fuel your energy for the day to remind you that you are beautiful, you are special, and the fact that you’re here means so much to this world!
You deserve to hear that about you!
